Summary: Multi-criteria decision making has a lot of things in common with database querying. In this paper we study and compare the logic scoring of preference (LSP) soft computing technique for multi-criteria decision support and of the handling of selection criteria in ‘fuzzy’ querying of regular relational databases. Furthermore, we investigate the need for more advanced aggregation techniques in fuzzy query criteria evaluations and show how LSP aggregation operators can help relieving this need. As an illustration the case of combining mandatory and desired criteria has been studied.
