Un problème de la théorie élémentaire des nombres. (French) Zbl 0019.05002
Starting from the erroneous identity $$2u^2+2(u+1)^2+1=(2u+1)^2$$ the author develops the theory of the rational right triangle $$(a_n, b_n, c_n)$$ whose legs are consecutive integers, obtaining the known recursion formulas for the sides and also the explicit formulas for $$a_n$$, $$b_n$$, and $$c_n$$, as functions of $$n$$.
