Summary: A two-parametric weighted additivity has been proposed. This under sum representation gives rise to a new functional equation. In terms of the solution of the functional equation, we characterize an information measure of type (\(\alpha\),\(\beta)\) with preference. Some applications to information theory have been discussed.
