Schulze-Pillot, Rainer Darstellungsmaße von Spinorgeschlechtern ternärer quadratischer Formen. (German) Zbl 0533.10016 J. Reine Angew. Math. 352, 114-132 (1984). For a ternary quadratic form over a number field the measure of representation (Darstellungsmaß) of a number \(n\) by a spinor genus has the same value for all spinor genera in the genus of the form except for \(n\) in finitely many square classes. For the exceptional square classes the genus splits into two half genera such that two spinor genera in the same half genus yield the same measure of representation. In this paper the difference between the measures of representation by spinor genera in different half genera is computed. The key to this computation is the expression of this difference as a product of local factors, which is obtained by introducing into Siegel’s mass formula a certain quadratic character on the idèle class group.
