In this paper the authors extend a result of P. H. Rabinowitz [Commun. Pure Appl. Math. 22, 15-39 (1969; Zbl 0157.173)] on the existence of periodic solutions of certain nonlinear hyperbolic partial differential equations from one space dimension to several space dimensions. Their proof is based on a theorem of J. Moser [Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 47, 1824-1831 (1961; Zbl 0104.305)].
