Jones, D. S. Low-frequency scattering by a body in lubricated contact. (English) Zbl 0552.73023 Q. J. Mech. Appl. Math. 36, 111-138 (1983). This paper considers the scattering of a harmonic elastic wave by an object in fully lubricated contact with its surroundings. Integral equations are derived and the uniqueness properties of the equations are studied in detail. The special case of low frequency is considered. Bounds are determined for the first order scattering together with estimates of the effects of altering the material constants. Variational principles are formulated, capable of providing both upper and lower bounds.
