Dieses bewährte Buch über die mathematischen Grundlagen der Informationstheorie hatte eine Neuauflage verdient. Gegenüber der dritten Auflage wurde hier der Text aktualisiert, verbessert und ergänzt. So enthält etwa ein Abschnitt über Codierungstheorie auch neuere Resultate über Nachrichtenübertragung mit Störungen.
