Équation de transport. Théorie spectrale et approximation de la diffusion. (French) Zbl 0558.35058

This conference contains a review of some results related to the transport equation (a linearized version of the Boltzmann equation). The main point is a discussion of the diffusion approximation, its mathematical justification and its applications to the determination of the first eigenvalue of the linear transport operator and to the calculation of the critical size.
