A hypercomplex method of calculating stresses in three-dimensional bodies. (English) Zbl 0569.73017

The authors examine the use of quaternions to represent the solution of boundary value problems in three-dimensional linear elasticity. The procedures are based upon earlier dissertation research of both authors. A number of theorems are stated and proved, but no examples are given to demonstrate the method.
The paper is theoretical and as such it should be of interest and use to theoreticians concerned with boundary value problems and solution procedures.
