An efficient derivative-free method for solving nonlinear equations. (English) Zbl 0581.65033
The author describes an algorithm for the iterative solution of a single nonlinear equation which is based on a combination of bisection with second and third order methods. The occuring derivatives are estimated via finite difference approximations. A report on numerical experiments is included.
