Influence des poids des unités statistiques sur les valeurs propres en analyse en composantes principales. (French) Zbl 0582.62049

This paper is concerned with the influence of the weights of the observations upon the eigenvalues in principal component analysis. The consequences of a general perturbation of the weights are studied in a first part. The following results are devoted to the perturbation of the weight of a particular observation, the weights of the other observations being only normalized. Geometrical and graphical aspects are pointed out. A practical illustration of a part of the results, based on the well known example of Amiard fishes, is given.
