We give a classification of the irreducible admissible representations of the group \(U(2,1)\) over a \(p\)-adic field when \(p\neq 2\). Our classification is based on \(p\)-adic analogues of the phenomena of minimal \(K\)-types and cohomological induction in the theory of real reductive groups.
