For normal separation and transverse shear cracks we show that the singularity order at the crack tip in problems of brittle fracture mechanics of materials with initial stresses [the author, Brittle fracture mechanics of initially stressed materials (1983; Zbl 0535.73076)] is identical to the singularity order at the crack tip in corresponding problems of classic linear brittle fracture mechanics.
