Destuynder, Ph.; Neveu, D. Sur les modèles de lignes plastiques en mécanique de la rupture. (Models of plastic lines in fracture mechanics). (French) Zbl 0633.73103 RAIRO, Modélisation Math. Anal. Numér. 20, 251-263 (1986). (Authors’ summary.) A procedure for deriving simplified fracture mechanics models is given. In such models the nonlinearity is confined on a line along which the crack is supposed to propagate. A limit process is used assuming that the plastic zone is included in a very narrow path around the crack. New models are thus obtained, the numerical formulation of which is very simple and which can be compared with those of Dugdale- Barenblatt, although they are different.
