Liebeck, Martin W.; Praeger, Cheryl E.; Saxl, Jan On the O’Nan-Scott theorem for finite primitive permutation groups. (English) Zbl 0647.20005 J. Aust. Math. Soc., Ser. A 44, No. 3, 389-396 (1988). The present paper gives a self-contained proof of the O’Nan-Scott theorem on the socle of a finite primitive permutation group. Omissions in some earlier published statements or proofs are corrected; correct versions of the theorem are also contained in M. Aschbacher and L. Scott [J. Algebra 92, 44-80 (1985; Zbl 0549.20011)] and L. G. Kovács [ibid. 99, 114-131 (1986; Zbl 0591.20020)].
