Dubois, Didier; Prade, Henri Fuzzy numbers: An overview. (English) Zbl 0663.94028 Analysis of fuzzy information, Vol. 1: Math. logic, 3-39 (1987). [For the entire collection see Zbl 0648.00013.] This paper is an overview of works dealing with fuzzy numbers and their operations. The paper includes the basic definitions and principles in fuzzy theory, the calculus of fuzzy quantities with noninteractive variables, parametrized representation of a fuzzy interval, approximate calculation of functions of fuzzy intervals, fuzzy interval calculations with linked variables, fuzzy equations and optimistic calculus of fuzzy intervals, comparison of fuzzy quantities, as well as an extensive bibliography of applications in information processing, operation research, optimization and decision analysis.
