Read, C. J. A short proof concerning the invariant subspace problem. (English) Zbl 0664.47006 J. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 34, 335-348 (1986). An example of an operator on the space \(\ell^ 1\) is constructed that has no invariant subspace other than \(\{\) \(0\}\) and \(\ell^ 1\). This operator is a nuclear perturbation of a weighted shift.
