A short proof concerning the invariant subspace problem. (English) Zbl 0664.47006
An example of an operator on the space $$\ell^ 1$$ is constructed that has no invariant subspace other than $$\{$$ $$0\}$$ and $$\ell^ 1$$. This operator is a nuclear perturbation of a weighted shift.
