The author remembers his contacts with Serre, Thom, Hirzebruch and other twelve first-class topologists. Some remarkable topological results are examinated as generalisations of “The maximum principle” and “The Brouwer fixed point theorem”. Very interesting are opinions of the specialists during the launching and forming of the new theories.
