The article is written on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of the mathematical journal Topology, founded in 1961. The author, who has been one of the editors of the journal from its inception, discusses specialization of journals in science and mathematics in particular as well as revokes the contents of the first volumes of the journal, pointing out several extremely important papers published.
