Kawamata, Yujiro; Matsuda, Katsumi; Matsuki, Kenji Introduction to the minimal model problem. (English) Zbl 0672.14006 Algebraic geometry, Proc. Symp., Sendai/Jap. 1985, Adv. Stud. Pure Math. 10, 283-360 (1987). [For the entire collection see Zbl 0628.00007.] This paper is a complete survey on the theory of minimal models for \(n\)-dimensional varieties: the main tools and the recent results are described and the open problems are stated. A particular attention is paid to the “flip conjecture”, which turns out to be a crucial step in order to give a classification for \(n\)-dimensional varieties. This paper is also supplied with useful and complete references on this subject.
