Bellissard, Jean Almost periodicity in solid state physics and \(C^*\) algebras. (English) Zbl 0678.42007 Mat.-Fys. Medd., K. Dan. Vidensk. Selsk. 42, No. 3, 35-75 (1989). Summary: Several physical phenomena involve almost or quasi periodic functions. The earliest examples concerned applications in classical mechanics. More recently almost periodicity has been important in quantum mechanics especially in problems involving conductors. Most of the corresponding examples concern Schrödinger operators with quasi or almost periodic potential or some tight binding approximation of it. The aim of this section is to provide physical examples taken from solid state physics.
