Bernardi, Christine; Debit, Naïma; Maday, Yvon Coupling finite element and spectral methods: First results. (English) Zbl 0685.65098 Math. Comput. 54, No. 189, 21-39 (1990). This paper is concerned with the coupling of finite element and spectral methods for the solution of a classical Poisson equation set in a rectangular domain decomposed into two squares. A finite element approximation is used in one of the squares and spectral approximation in the other. Two matchings are proposed and analyzed.
