Queueing networks with blocking. Proceedings of the 1st international workshop, held in Raleigh, NC, May 20-21, 1988. (English) Zbl 0699.68010

Amsterdam etc.: North-Holland. XIII, 357 p. (1989).
The article of this volume will not be reviewed individually.
The 1st international workshop on queueing networks with blocking attracted many of the experts in this area and these proceedings reflect that breadth of knowledge. The papers on exact solutions in blocking networks provide few new ideas but make interesting reading as reviews of the area. Most of the remaining papers deal with aggregation and decomposition approximation techniques but use such a variety of methods that they could be used as an introduction to these approaches.
The book is worth reading by both those who want to learn a little about this research field and by those who do the research.
