Fortin, André; Fortin, Michel A preconditioned generalized minimal residual algorithm for the numerical solution of viscoelastic fluid flows. (English) Zbl 0708.76012 J. Non-Newtonian Fluid Mech. 36, 277-288 (1990). Summary: The numerical simulation of the flow of a viscoelastic fluid by a generalized minimal residual (GMRES) method is investigated and tested to determine its convergence properties. A method based on the Lesaint- Raviart technique is used as a preconditioner for the GMRES method to enhance the convergence rate and robustness of the algorithm. Numerical results are presented for the stick-slip problem.
