A. D. Soloviev (1927–2001). (English) Zbl 1432.01101

Summary: Alexander Dmitrievich Soloviev was an outstanding Russian mathematician and teacher. Being a master in asymptotic methods of calculus he had applied these skills to the development of efficient methods in the mathematical reliability theory and in the queueing theory. However, the real influence of A. D. Soloviev on the Soviet and Russian mathematics was essentially wider.
The paper is based on the talk made at the International Conference “Analytical and Computational Methods in Probability Theory” dedicated to the memory of Alexander Dmitrievich Soloviev (Moscow, 2017).
