General purpose model of queue dissipation time at service facility with intermittent bulk service schedule. (English) Zbl 0748.60096
The authors formulate the dissipation process of a queue at a service facility which provides services intermittently in a bulk mode as a Markov chain. Using the properties of the fundamental matrix derived from the canonical form of the transition probability matrix of this Markov chain they obtain the average time for a queue to dissipate and the probability for the queue to reach a certain length.
