Behara, M. Additive and nonadditive measures of entropy. (English) Zbl 0752.94005 New York etc.: John Wiley & Sons, Inc. New Delhi: Wiley Eastern Limited. xiv, 250 p. (1990). The most important results in the field of measures of entropy are presented. The purpose of the monograph is to provide a unified theory of measures of entropy. Both additive and nonnegative entropies are studied. A brief introduction to the fundamental concepts (the amount of information, statistical and information-theoretical preliminaries, and entropy functions) is followed by part one which is dedicated to measures of additive entropy. Shannon and Renyi entropies are presented. Part two is dedicated to nonadditive entropies, namely: polynomial entropy, nonpolynomial algebraic entropy and transcendental entropy. Part three is concerned with applications of entropy in coding theory.
