The author gives a different approach to some results of the reviewer [Invent. Math. 103, 9-24 (1991; Zbl 0724.11056)] and K. Kramer [On the Hilbert-kernel of \(K\)-theory and the Gross regulator (preprint)] relating the Hilbert kernel of a number field to certain idele-class groups arising in Iwasawa theory.
