Error analysis of some Galerkin least squares methods for the elasticity equations. (English) Zbl 0759.73055
The mixed boundary value problem of compressible and incompressible linear elasticity is considered. The recent technique of stabilizing mixed finite element methods by augmenting the Galerkin formulation with least squares terms calculated separately on each element is treated. The error analysis is presented in a unified manner in detail yielding improved results for some methods introduced earlier.
