Sonnendrücker, Eric; Ambrosiano, John J.; Brandon, Scott T. A finite element formulation of the Darwin PIC model for use on unstructured grids. (English) Zbl 0834.76052 J. Comput. Phys. 121, No. 2, 281-297 (1995). Summary: We introduce a new formulation of the Darwin approximation of Maxwell’s equations and discuss its domain of applicability. We describe a finite element implementation of this model, allowing the use of unstructured grids, and its coupling with a PIC method for the particles.
