Some earlier papers by the same author demonstrated that the use of the conventional stresses has significant advantages over the true ones in various problems of mechanics. One of the main arguments in favor of the use of true stresses is their finiteness in critical points such as edges of fractures, etc. Here, the author shows this argument to be groundless and reveals the nature of the finiteness of true stresses.
