This paper deals with the investigation of a complex repairable system consisting of several renewable subsystems with cold reserves having the same characteristics, that is, each has \(m\) operating and \(n\) cold stand-by units. The failed elements are renewed at a common repair facility and return to a specific subsystem. The system breaks down iff at the failure of an operating unit the given subsystem has no stand-by ones. Hence the problem is how to maintain the whole system so that the failure-free operation time of the complex system should be maximal with the greatest probability. Finally, several optimisation problems are treated.
