Applications of Lagrange spaces to physics. (English) Zbl 0857.53053
Antonelli, P. L. (ed.) et al., Lagrange and Finsler geometry: applications to physics and biology. Proceedings of a conference. Dordrecht: Kluwer Academic Publishers. Fundam. Theor. Phys. 76, 255-262 (1996).
The paper presents an application of generalized Lagrange spaces to relativistic geometrical optics. Considering the case of non-dispersive media, the post-Newtonian estimation for the metric $g_{ij}(x) = e^{2\sigma(x)} \gamma_{ij}(x)$ is developed, and certain restrictions imposed by the experimental tests are set for the post-Newtonian expansion parameters.
