Quantum theory and geometry. (English) Zbl 0860.58001

This short note gives a survey about the relationship of quantum physics and mathematical fields. Topics dicussed are gauge theories, quantum field theory, strings, duality, quantum gravity, topology and geometry. The note is divided in three parts discussing the relations and their development during the past, the present and the future.
