We present some recent results on small amplitude waves in an elastic medium taking into account the effects of nonlinearity and anisotropy. An important feature is the existence of several solutions to many natural problems. Here we determine which of these solutions hold in a medium when the viscosity coefficient tends to zero. We also study the limit case when anisotropy tends to zero.
