Summary: Maslov’s noncommutative operational calculus has proved to be a convenient tool to study various problems in algebra and differential equations. Here we give a brief description of its main ideas and notions together with several examples of applications. A detailed exposition may be found in the authors’ book [“Methods of noncommutative analysis: theory and applications” (de Gruyter Studies in Math. 22, Walter de Gruyter, Berlin) (1995; Zbl 0876.47015)].
