Raous, Michel; Cangémi, Laurent; Cocu, Marius An adhesion and friction model for the contact between two deformable bodies. (Un modèle couplant adhérence et frottement pour le contact entre deux solides déformables.) (French. Abridged English version) Zbl 0896.73051 C. R. Acad Sci., Paris, Sér. II, Fasc. b, Méc. Phys. Chim. Astron. 325, No. 9, 503-509 (1997). Summary: A model taking into acount unilateral contact condition, friction and adhesion is presented. In the framework of continuum thermodynamics, the contact zone is considered as a material surface, and the local constitutive laws are derived by choosing two specific surface potentials. The adhesion is characterized by a variable which represents the intensity of adhesion. A quasistatic variational formulation and an incremental formulation are proposed. A numerical method is given to solve the problem. The model is used to simulate an indentation experiment which is conducted to characterize the behaviour of fiber/matrix interfaces in a ceramic composite.
