Fictitious domain method for the Maxwell equations. (English) Zbl 0896.76084

The author presents an implementation of the fictitious domain method for the solution of acoustic scattering problem explaining that for Maxwell equations, the considered approach may be generalized in a quite obvious way. The method is based on using an infinite uniform Cartesian mesh. A non-symmetric version of the fictitious domain method is used for solving the resulting mesh system. In addition, at each iterative step, a partial solution of the problem with preconditioner is obtained by summing the mesh Green functions with corresponding weights. Finally, a discussion of numerical results is presented.
