Die vorliegende Arbeit behandelt Konvergenzaussagen für Iterationsverfahren zur Berechnung von Fixpunkten von 1. akkretiven, 2. stark akkretiven, 3. (stark) pseudokontraktiven Abbildungen in Banachräumen mit zusätzlichen Konvexitäts- bzw. Glattheitseigenschaften. Im Detail werden die Ishikawa-Iteration [S. Ishikawa, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 44, 147-150 (1974; Zbl 0286.47036)], d.h., die Vorschrift \[ x_{n+ 1}= (1-\alpha_n)x_n+ \alpha_nT(y_n),\quad y_n= (1-\beta_n)x_n+ \beta_nT(x_n) \] für eine Selbstabbildung \(T\) einer konvexen Teilmenge eines Banachraumes bzw. die Mann-Iteration [R. W. Mann, ibid. 4, 506-510 (1953; Zbl 0050.11603)] (in obiger Vorschrift ist \(\beta_n= 0\) zu setzen \(n= 0,1,2,\dots\)) untersucht. Der Verfasser beweist sechs einschlägige Theoreme wie z.B. das folgende Theorem 3.2. “\(X\) sei ein reeller glatt konvexer Banachraum, \(K\subset X\) eine beschränkte abgeschlossene konvexe Teilmenge und \(T: K\to K\) eine stark pseudo-kontraktive Abbildung. Es seien \((\alpha_n)\), \((\beta_n)\) zwei reelle Zahlenfolgen mit \[ (i)\quad 0\leq \alpha_n\leq\beta_n\leq 1\quad (n= 0,1,2,\dots),\qquad (ii)\quad \sum^\infty_{n= 0}\alpha_n=+\infty\quad\text{und} \quad \lim_{n\to\infty} \beta_n= 0. \] Hat die Abbildung \(T\) einen Fixpunkt, dann hat \(T\) genau einen Fixpunkt \(\overline x\in K\) und für jedes (Start-)Element \(x_0\in K\) konvergiert die gemäß der Ishikawa-Iteration (s. oben) gebildete Folge \((x_n)\) stark gegen \(\overline x\).” Dieses Theorem verallgemeinert einen Satz von C. E. Chidume [ibid. 120, No. 2, 545-551 (1994; Zbl 0802.47058)] und gibt eine positive Antwort auf eine von ihm gestellte Frage.
