From the recollections of Otakar Bor ůvka – the founder of the Brno school of differential equations. (English) Zbl 0914.34003

The author presents some historical facts on the foundation of the Brno school of differential equations by Otakar Bor ůvka and some recollections and ideas of O. Bor ůvka concerning his decision to study second-order differential equations. The source of the paper are the personal archives of O. Bor ůvka and records of the Ethnographical Institute of the National Museum in Brno made on the occasion of the 90th birthday of O. Bor ůvka.
