Radiation effects in the intense interaction of a cloud of interplanetary dust and the Earth’s atmosphere. (English. Russian original) Zbl 0919.76092

Summary: For the new gas-dynamic problem of the intense interaction of a cloud of interplanetary dust and the Earth’s atmosphere, the physical model of radiation effects is further improved: radiative transfer of energy in a two-phase gas-particle medium is included in the analysis. The radiation transfer equation is calculated using the diffusion approximation and multigroup approximation of the absorption coefficients of air and the particle medium with respect to the radiation frequency. For the one-dimensional formulation of the problem of the entry into the atmosphere of a plane particle layer at interplanetary speed, the results demonstrate the effect of radiation on the process. In particular, the values of the earthward and spaceward luminescence of radiant energy are determined.
