The paper presents an exhaustive summary of the recent results in the use of a specific function for the solution of linear and nonlinear complementarity problems. This specific function is used to perform the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker system of constrained optimization problems into a nonlinear system of equations. Also a generalized Newton method is analyzed with regard to the conditions for superlinear or quadratic convergence. The paper is informative, up-to-date and contains a list of interesting results. In conclusion the paper is a careful and elegant treatment of a difficult and important topic in the theory of linear and nonlinear complementarity problems.
