This edition updates the coverage of response surface methodology (RSM) by including recent advances in this area. Two new chapters have been added: Chapter 8, entitled “Response surface models with block effects”, and Chapter 11, “Taguchi’s robust parameter design”. Several new sections have also been added to the remaining chapters. Chapter 7 has three new sections: The first on the effect of scaling the responses on the detection of linear dependencies among multipurpose data, the second extends the rotatability property to a multiresponse design, and the third section briefly describes the testing of the general linear hypothesis. The analysis of multiresponse mixture experiments through the application of biplots has been added to Chapter 9. According to the authors, the added material amounts to a major revision of the first edition. The book is a useful reference for anyone interested in learning or using RSM.
