Turbulent combustion. (English) Zbl 0955.76002
Cambridge Monographs on Mechanics and Applied Mathematics. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press. xvi, 304 p. (2000).
The book contains four chapters. In the first introductory chapter the author explains the main concepts and current modeling approaches to turbulent flows with combustion. The second chapter deals with premixed turbulent combustion, and an expression is derived for the turbulent burning velocity, which is valid both in the corrugated flamelet regime and in the thin reaction zone regime. Models for non-premixed combustion are topics of chapter 3. Finally, the fourth chapter is concerned with partially premixed combustion, and here the author derives an expression for the turbulent burning velocity in partially premixed systems. In an epilogue, the principles of turbulent combustion modeling are summarized.
