Summary: An analytical method is developed for solving the boundary value problem of the behavior of electric field and electrons in a half-space occupied by a metal. As an application, the generalized problem of skin effect is investigated with reflective and diffuse boundary conditions. The generalization implies an analysis of the complex frequencies of an extraneous variable electromagnetic field tangential to the metal surface.
