It was indicated in an earlier paper that they can be effectively used to interpolate and smooth discrete periodic data. In this paper the theory of discrete periodic splines, together with these applications is described in more detail. Fundamental properties of discrete periodic B-splines are investigated. It is shown that an equivalent definition can be given in terms of an expansion in discrete Bernoulli functions.
