Open problems in combinatorial group theory. (English) Zbl 0976.20023
Gilman, Robert H. (ed.), Groups, languages and geometry. 1998 AMS-IMS-SIAM joint summer research conference on geometric group theory and computer science, South Hadley, MA, USA, July 5-9, 1998. Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society. Contemp. Math. 250, 1-27 (1999).
The authors present a collection of open problems in combinatorial group theory, which is based on a similar list available online at the web site http://www.grouptheory.org. The problems are arranged under the following headings: outstanding problems, free groups, one-relator groups, finitely presented groups, hyperbolic and automatic groups, braid groups, nilpotent groups, metabelian groups, solvable groups.
The problems that have been solved after the first draft of the list in 1997 are not deleted from the list. A reference to the solution is provided in this case in the background.
For the entire collection see [Zbl 0930.00042].
