On a heuristic model of the aerodynamical pendulum. (Russian. English summary) Zbl 0979.70018
For an aerodynamical pendulum in stationary flow, the authors construct a heuristic quasistationary mathematical model of medium action on the body. This model is based on the concept of instantaneous pressure center, angle of attack, and on the idea of added mass. The model is governed by a mixed system of differential and transcendental equations. The authors propose an algorithm for the solution of the equations, and explain how to choose the desired solution branch. By using analytical and numerical methods, the phase portrait is constructed for all possible values of thread length, and local and nonlocal bifurcations are described.
