The present paper, a natural continuation of the authors [J. Comput. Math. 17, No. 2, 221-224 (1999; Zbl 0942.65142)], is an excellent survey of rigid body dynamics using geometric methods. After a short introduction which contains some historical aspects, the paper presents the following six sections: The Lie group \(SO(3)\) and its Lie algebra \(so(3)\); The rigid body with three particular controls; Variational formulation of the angular velocity equations; Prequantization; Stability; Numerical integration of the equations \((6.2)\), \((6.3)\).
