Spacetime geometry of static fluid spheres. (English) Zbl 0999.83028
To deduce static spherically symmetric solutions of the Einstein field equation with perfect fluid as matter, already hundreds of papers appeared in the literature since 1916. Nevertheless, the present authors succeeded to find a new method to find them all in a closed form. Their idea is that one can freely choose one generating function of one variable (the radial variable), and then all other functions can be calculated from it. The relation to the other approaches in the literature is carefully examined.
